EMS Telemedicine Telepresence Guide

EMS Telemedicine and Telepresence

TELEPRESENCE refers to the ability of a person to perform specific tasks at a distant location. TELEMEDICINE focuses telepresence specifically on the delivery of health care at a distance. At present, both terms are used within EMS to describe the use of advanced technologies to project the capabilities of health care professionals from hospital and other fixed locations to mobile and other distant locations.

Whatever term the profession will decide to adopt, it is becoming increasingly clear that the use of this telemedicine/telepresence technology represents the next step in the evolution of EMS. Recognizing this, General Devices now offers it’s new e-Bridge™ EMS Telemedicine System, a comprehensive, fully integrated system for managing communications and information for EMS Telemedicine/Telepresence applications.

As is well understood in EMS, speed, communications and information management are critical. Recent advances in communications and information technology are now beginning to make things a lot better, with digital voice, images, real-time physiologic and other capabilities fast becoming an everyday reality. Two important questions now facing EMS are: how will these technologies affect EMS, and how will medics manage these new technologies while providing critical patient care? Part of the answer to these questions can be found in General Devices' new and growing family of e-Bridge™ EMS Telemedicine System products. Working with many partners, these products provide ease-of-use, reliability, interoperability, and unparalleled performance.

What are the components of the General Devices EMS Telemedicine system?
The General Devices e-Bridge™ EMS Telemedicine System leverages the latest technologies and simplifies the in voice data and medical communications. In the field, Rosetta-VC links monitors, notebook computers, cameras, and other field devices to cellphones, mesh systems and analog and digital radios.
